Fire Department – Community Outreach

The Foster City Fire Department is committed to serving the residents of Foster City. In addition to responding to fire, medical, and other emergencies, the Fire Department also participates in neighborhood and community events. We are firmly committed to the safety and security for all residents of our beautiful city. Our firefighters are always ready to speak with you on any topic related to fire or life safety.

In addition to the classes and programs we offer, the Fire Department also holds an annual Open House in conjunction with the Police Department in allowing Foster City residents the opportunity to meet its Fire Department. A Fire Safety Trailer provides an opportunity for kids to learn what to do in the event of a fire in their home. Additionally, stove and utility demonstrations are given and free blood pressure checks by firefighters are offered. Over 1000 residents attend our Open House.

Defibrillators and AED

Defibrillators and AED

Defibrillators are portable electronic medical devices that automatically diagnose life threatening cardiac rhythms and treat patients with electrical therapy to allow the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm. These devices are known as automated external defibrillators or AEDs. Training for AEDs is offered through the Fire Department's CPR course, but AEDs are designed for the use of the layman.
